Review of The Top Work Headphones Available
I mow a ton of lawns each week and have done so for the past 15 years. Yep, like many of my readers, I started young. Just another monkey on a mower, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve begun to realize I need to protect my ears.
I want to hear people when they talk instead of being the old guy always asking, “Huh?, Say again…?” So a few years back I started purchasing headphones that could really cancel out the loud 23HP motor I sat next to for 12 hrs a day, 3-4 days a week.
Mowing the other day, I reminisced on the many headphones I’ve bought. Mowing through the rain on another dreary, Spring day in Ohio, it dawned on me that I may have some helpful information that could be helpful to others in the field of non-stop weed wackers and mowers..
Stanely Sync Digital
With the Stanley headpones have the choice of listening to the local radio stations or plugging in to another device with a coaxial cable. The radio seems to work quite well on most stations in my area and of course the ability to connect to your smart phone is a plus, but I found the wire to be a nuisance because it got caught on the mower handles too often. When weed wacking I frequently got caught up in bushes and low lying tree limbs.
My biggest complaint by far for these head phones is that the amount of noise cancellation is just non-existent especially after a couple months of use. It was only after years of using these I realized I was not getting the protection I needed. I was hearing so much of the mower that I was forced to turn up the volume on my music all the way. This meant not only was the sound from the mower hurting my ears, but the music was too.
Ion Tough Sounds With Bluetooth
The Ion Tough Sounds feature a rechargeable battery that is not removable and can be charged with a basic usb cable which is included. The battery lasts 20 straight hours of listening and charges quickly.
How’s The Bluetooth
I’ve no doubt the ease of use with the Bluetooth function is something to be admired by Ion’s competitors! It always connects easily and quickly and the memory function even allows the phone to connect automatically when the headphones have been turned on. I’ve found that the Bluetooth range from headphones to smart phone is pretty good too. Sometimes when my phone battery is low I’ll keep it charging in the truck while I continue to mow. As long as I stay within about 40 feet of my device, I can keep listening via Bluetooth.
I love the ability to take calls even when I’m swinging the weedwacker back and forth. Granted, I can’t talk on the phone with my wife while continuing the rev up the motor because it makes it difficult for her to hear. It’s just so nice to keep moving even when a call comes in. This function, to me, is huge!
Another huge plus is the affordability of these wireless hearing protectors. Comparable head phones are priced much higher and they just do not hold the same quality.
3M Work Tunes With Bluetooth
I have a large head, but these 3M head phones are by far the most versatile for varying head sizes. Not sure why that was the first thing that came to mind lol. I like the toughness and design of these Bluetooth Work Tunes.
3M Work Tunes Nothing Special
They’re comfortable, and durable but they just don’t cancel out noise like I need and therefore I found to continue using these as my main headphones I would be damaging my hearing.
I didn’t prefer the functionality of the buttons as it just seemed unnatural. Connecting and staying connected to Bluetooth is not as “automatic” as it is with the Ion Tough Sounds.
You cannot answer and talk on the phone while wearing these like you can with the Ion head phones either which is a huge loss in functionality.
I definitely feel like these headphones are over priced.
